We have been informed that Euclid Police Department has responded to a report that a Shoreview student was shot in the arm while on their way home from school this afternoon. A stray bullet struck the child. The student was not a target but an innocent bystander. The child was taken to the hospital and is being treated there. Our thoughts and prayers are with the child and their family. At this time, we are not aware of any threats made to the school. Euclid Police are investigating the situation. If you feel your child needs to speak with someone about this, Shoreview Elementary will have trained support staff available through the remainder of the week to support students.

Next week is Attendance Week! Student success starts with attendance and engaged learning and that’s what next week is all about! The Euclid Schools have partnered with The Cleveland Browns Foundation to help our Students “Stay in the Game” and to “Keep Learning, Every Day.” in order to prioritize attendance and tackle chronic absenteeism. We’ve received some questions regarding issues with the First Student FIrstView App that helps families keep track of their buses. FirstView App Support has also been receiving questions regarding issues. To remedy the issues that some Euclid Families have been experiencing, there is a new District Code that parents need to use. The new District Code is: P2GW We expect the new district code to help fix the issues our families have been experiencing with FirstView. We’ll continue to work with First Student to address any transportation issues.

We have recently become aware of a social media post shared this morning regarding our marching band. The district has been fortunate to have allocated roughly $50,000.00 to the band for equipment in the last three years. The Euclid Schools Foundation donated the funds through grants for new percussion equipment and brass instruments. Our students in the band have what they need to continue their success experienced during the last several years. The band is fortunate to have traveled to and hosted many competitions over the previous two years. If you were to enter the high school's main entrance, the trophies and awards welcome any visitor to our high school. The district will continue to support the music and arts departments just as we support all of our student programs. Our goal is to ensure equal opportunities for all students in the district to explore their interests and determine their paths and interests. We understand that a student will get out of the programs what they put into them. The band has accomplished incredible achievements through hard work and persistence, made possible by the opportunities and resources the Board of Education is pleased to provide. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the Euclid Schools Foundation, please contact the board office at (216) 261-2900 or visit the foundation website https://euclidschoolsfoundation.org/ to learn more about how they support our district. Unfortunately, though we appreciate the community's good intentions, the original post's details are inaccurate. The Euclid City Schools are committed to transparency. If you have any questions regarding anything in the district, always feel free to contact a building principal, any Director at the Fordyce Administration Building, or a member of the Board of Education.

We are deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of a middle school student on Sunday, July 30. Our heartfelt condolences are with the student’s family during this very difficult time. As we would like to respect the privacy of the student and their family, no further information will be given at this time. The loss of a young life is sure to raise many emotions, concerns and questions for our entire school community, especially our students. The Euclid Schools has a Crisis Intervention Team, made up of professionals trained to help with the needs of students, parents and school personnel for difficult times like this. We will have counselors available at Euclid Middle School and the Memorial Options Center tomorrow, August 2nd, from 8am-noon for anyone who may be grieving and looking for assistance. We encourage you to reach out to the Euclid Middle School or Memorial Options Center administration team if you would like to utilize those resources. The following link also provides suggestions and resources to help children deal with grief: https://www.nasponline.org/resources-and-publications/resources-and-podcasts/school-safety-and-crisis/mental-health-resources/addressing-grief/when-grief/loss-hits-close-to-home-tips-for-caregivers The best support for your children during this time may be to continue their normal daily routines, including going to school and attending extracurricular activities. We encourage you to actively listen to your child and monitor their mood and temperament. If you have concerns, questions or need support for your family, please do not hesitate to contact counselors or administrators at your school.
