SLIDE 1

Good morning, and thank you for being here. I am Chris Papouras, Superintendent of Euclid City Schools and a proud alumnus of Euclid High School. Having been part of our community for over five decades, I am committed to providing our students with the highest-quality education. Today, I’m excited to share our district's achievements and why Euclid Schools is a smart choice for families.

SLIDE 2

Our vision is to create an innovative learning environment that prepares every student for real-world success.

Our mission focuses on three core goals:

  • Improving student achievement

  • Building credibility through transparency

  • Ensuring fiscal responsibility

These priorities guide every decision we make.

SLIDE 3

While we have achieved significant milestones, our ultimate goal is to drive student achievement beyond state indicators. This is crucial for preparing our students for the next grade level, high school graduation, and success in college and career pathways.

Every Child, Every Lesson, Every Day

    • All elementary schools have adopted the Science of Reading, an evidence-based approach focused on how the brain learns to read.

    • This method has significantly improved literacy outcomes, earning praise from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce and even prompting a visit from Governor Mike DeWine to see the success firsthand.

  • Chardon Hills integrates STEM across disciplines, combining rigorous content with innovative teaching methods and hands-on learning. This approach has consistently earned the school four stars or higher on the State Report Card, making it one of the top elementary schools in Northeast Ohio.

Over the last four years, we have evolved into a stronger, more innovative district with a deep commitment to student success.

Our latest State Report Card highlights this progress, showing consistent year-over-year improvements in student performance.

In the following slides, I will share how far we’ve come and challenge outdated perceptions of our district.

SLIDE 9

  • First and foremost, the Euclid School has met the state standards from the overall Report Card Rating.

  • We are among only 42 districts to have received the prestigious Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Momentum Award, which recognizes significant improvement in achievement and progress indicators.

  • All of our schools are in good standing with the State, and several have been recognized for exceptional progress on state assessments.

  • The Progress component of the State Report Card is particularly meaningful as it measures year-over-year academic growth, regardless of starting point. Our strong results in this area show that Euclid students are making greater academic gains than expected.

These achievements are a testament to our teachers' dedication, our students' hard work, and the impact of our strategic initiatives—reinforcing that Euclid City Schools is a district on the rise.

SLIDE 10
Our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program demonstrates our commitment to fostering a positive school culture that recognizes and rewards good behavior.

Implemented district-wide, PBIS has earned awards for six schools and the prestigious District Recognition Award.

Euclid High School leads Cuyahoga County high schools in PBIS rankings, with its professional development sessions used as a model for other districts.

By promoting a respectful and productive atmosphere, PBIS enhances the learning environment and supports academic success, making school more enjoyable and engaging for all students.

Euclid City Schools has been a leader in offering students opportunities to earn high school credits and college credits simultaneously through College Credit Plus (CCP), and workforce credentials through our Career Technical Education (CTE) programs.

Our CTE programs boast a 98% graduation rate, equipping students with the skills needed for the workforce and higher education. We offer diverse CTE pathways such as Allied Health, Business, Criminal Investigation, Automation & Robotics, Culinary Arts, and more, partnering with industry leaders like Lincoln Electric and Rockwell Automation to provide real-world experience.

Last year, our students earned 638 CCP credits, saving families over $124,000, and we saw a 142% increase in CCP participation.

These programs not only prepare students for jobs but for careers with growth potential, making Euclid City Schools a compelling choice for families.

We often say, "When we know better, we’ll do better," and this philosophy has guided our decisions. As Superintendent, our top priority has been to establish a unified and aligned curriculum across all schools. This commitment to high-quality teaching and learning makes Euclid City Schools an excellent choice for families seeking a district that genuinely invests in their children's future.

We prioritize keeping parents informed and connected through effective communication tools.

  • Infinite Campus (IC) provides real-time access to grades, attendance, and behavior, ensuring transparency.

  • The Panther Press, our weekly newsletter, shares updates and upcoming events.

Our communication tools reflect a strong commitment to maintaining open, transparent, and convenient partnerships with our families.

Extracurricular activities are vital at Euclid City Schools, offering diverse opportunities for students to thrive.

  • Music and Performing Arts starts in fourth grade for orchestra and fifth grade for band—offering both band and orchestra is an opportunity at only 30% of Ohio schools. Our Show Choir won multiple awards, and the Marching Band earned several Grand Champion titles. Preparations are underway for the Annual Spring Musical, Big Show.

  • Athletics: Led by Tony Fisher, a Euclid alumnus and former NFL player, we offer 23 Varsity Sports. Our track Teams consistently compete at the State level. Our Cheerleading team made history by winning Euclid’s first Cheer State Championship.

  • Leadership and Service: NJROTC provides leadership opportunities and community service, while a variety of clubs—including the Key Club, National Honor Society, and Environmental Club—support diverse interests. Student Councils also enhance school culture.

These programs enrich the student experience, helping them explore passions, develop skills, and create lasting memories.

SLIDE 17

In today’s world, we understand that safety is a top concern for families. The Euclid Schools Department of Public Safety is dedicated to ensuring that every student, staff member, and visitor feels secure and welcome, fostering a positive environment across the district.

To enhance security, we use a range of advanced tools:

  • Surveillance: Over 800 security cameras with advanced analytics monitor our campuses and promptly alert security personnel to potential threats.

  • Entrance Control: Evolve weapons detection systems, similar to those used by the Browns, Cavs, and major event venues, are installed at all public entrances on the secondary campus for discreet threat screening.

  • On-Site Security: Each school has an armed officer certified by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA), trained to respond quickly to emergencies.

  • Preventive Measures: We promote the “See Something, Say Something” initiative to encourage vigilance and proactive communication within our community.

This comprehensive approach ensures a safe learning environment, allowing students to focus on their education.
