The Office of Exceptional Children has oversight of the District’s Special Education Services (PK-12), Section 504 Compliance, Home Instruction, Residency and Custody Verification, District Health Services, early entrance testing, Kindergarten screening, and homeless families. The office of Student Services also coordinates services for students in alternative placements including non-public, Jon Peterson Scholarships, and Autism Scholarships.

Our Euclid Schools provide a multitude of special education and related services for students from preschool through high school.
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a law ensuring services to children with disabilities throughout the nation. Children and youth (ages 3-21) receive special education and related services under IDEA Part B.
Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004
A preschool child with a disability is a child who is at least three years of age and not yet six years of age and meets the definition of a child with a disability or, at the choice of the school district, is a child who is experiencing developmental delays in one or more of the following areas: physical development, cognitive development, communication development, social or emotional development or adaptive development; and because of it, needs special education and related services.
A school-age child with a disability is eligible for special education and/or related services in the category of one of the following areas: Autism, Cognitive Disability, Deaf-blindness, Deafness, Emotional Disturbance, Hearing Impairment, Multiple Disabilities, Orthopedic Impairment, Other Health Impairment, Specific Learning Disability, Speech or Language Impairment, Traumatic Brain Injury or Visual Impairment including Blindness.
Child Find
Child Find is the process of identifying, locating, and evaluating children with disabilities who may be in need of special education and related services. Both state and local education agencies are given the responsibility by federal and state laws to conduct child find activities so that children who need special services have the opportunity to receive those services. If you are aware of a child who may have special needs, please notify the Euclid City Schools’ Department of Special Education or the school principal.
Gifted Service
Euclid Schools is committed to providing a continuum of programs and services for all students. Gifted students may need curriculum modifications, acceleration, self-contained classes and/or enrichment. Instruction is differentiated to provide all students with appropriate pacing and support necessary for advanced-level learning.
