Euclid is in the direct path of this once-in-a-lifetime astronomical event, offering a front-row seat to history.
Along with the excitement of the eclipse, there are safety concerns involved. The climax of the eclipse is estimated to occur approximately at 3:10 pm, during our usual dismissal times. Additionally, we are also expecting a high volume of out-of-town visitors in Euclid to appreciate the eclipse, which could cause traffic and communications issues. Remember to protect your vision by only viewing the eclipse with specialty-designed view eyewear.
At this week’s Board of Education Meeting, the Euclid Schools Board of Education approved April 8th, 2024 as a Teacher Professional Development Inservice Day for Euclid Schools. School will not be in session that day and classes will resume from Spring Break on Tuesday, April 9th.
We encourage all Euclid Schools families to take advantage of this awesome phenomenon and invite everyone to view the eclipse at the Euclid Eclipse Festival, which will be held at Euclid Community Stadium that day.

This book discuss the history of African Americans in Tulsa’s Greenwood district and chronicles the devastation that occurred in 1921 when a white mob attacked the prominent Black community.
George Washington Carver was an agricultural scientist and inventor who developed over 400 products using peanuts, soy beans and sweet potatoes. He was the first black student and faculty member to attend Iowa State University. As an educator, he used his agricultural research to help black farmers become more self-sufficient and less reliant on cotton, the major cash crop of the South.
After graduating from Euclid High, Van Monroe went to Miami University and received a degree in graphic design. After college, he went on to work a 9-5 job making six figures. He realized that his true passion was in art and quit his job to follow his dreams. Van fell on hard times, but continued to follow his passion and began designing custom shoes. In 2008 he designed a custom Obama shoe and his life changed. Van began to receive calls about interviews, recognition and celebrities wanting their own custom shoes, including Fat Joe, Vice President Harris and Nicki Minaj. His notorious customized Obama shoe is now a part of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African-American History.

Leslie Odom, Jr. is a multifaceted Tony and Grammy Award-winning performer - spanning Broadway, television, film and music. He is best known for his role as Aaron Burr in the smash hit Broadway musical Hamilton. After taking a break from Broadway, Odom recently returned to produce and star in the revival of Purlie Victorious.
