The Board Meeting Breakdown

The Euclid Board of Education met on June 12th, 2024, in the Board Room at the Fordyce Administration Building at 7:00 pm.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Board President Gabrielle Kelly, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

All Board Members were present.

The Board reviewed and accepted the agenda for the evening.

The Board adopted the minutes from the May 8th, 14th, 21st and 22nd Board Meetings.

Proclamation for Retirees

  • Mrs. Jacqueline Sturm, Director of Human Resources, read a proclamation that the Board approved:

    • Proclaimed commendation for the retiring staff and faculty members for the 2023-2024 school year. The commendation recognized each retiree and congratulated & thanked them for their many years of service to Euclid and its students.  Those retirees include:

Reports and Recommendations of the Treasurer

  • This portion of the meeting covered the financial data of the district. Euclid Schools Treasurer Steve Vasek led the Board Members through District Financial Statements.

  • The Board approved the Financial Data for the month of May.

  • The Board approved the Euclid Public Library Board Budget for 2025.

  • The Board approved grant payments for work done outside of current employment contracts.

  • The Board accepted donations from Open Doors Academy.

  • Personnel

    • The Board approved changes to Certified and Classified personnel in the form of resignations, terminations, retirements, permanent substitute appointments, non-teaching appointments, non-teaching assignments, extra duty, athletic duty, athletic duty resignations, and leaves.

      • In this agenda item, the Board approved the hiring of several new administrators.

  • Contracts/Agreements

    • The Board approved a service agreement with The Cleveland Clinic Foundation to support the Allied Health CTE Program.

    • The Board approved payments to 2023-2024 Math Curriculum Adoption Committee members.

  • Routine Business

    • The Board approved an agreement between Auburn Career Center and the Euclid City Schools for the 2024-2025 school year to provide Career Technical Education services for Euclid Students.

    • The Board approved two Memorandums of Understanding with Making a Difference Consulting to provide Wrap-Around Services for students at Memorial Options Center and Euclid High School.

    • The Board approved a Contract with Maxim Staffing Services for the 2024-2025 School Year to provide personnel to supplement healthcare staffing services to the Euclid City Schools.

    • The Board approved a service agreement with OHIOGuidestone Day Treatment Program to provide integrated, comprehensive treatment for youth with physical or mental disabilities, emotional disorders and behavioral disorders.

    • The Board authorized transportation agreements with Abundance Transportation Services LLC, JB Safety 1st Transportation LLC, ODS Transportation, TLC Transportation COmpany and WS Transport LLC to provide transportation for some of the District’s special education students for the 2024-2025 school year.

    • The Board approved the purchase of general liability insurance, property insurance, commercial auto insurance and cyber risk insurance from Ohio School Plan through Love Insurance for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.

    • The Board approved Student Fee Schedules for the 2024-2025 school year.


  • Miscellaneous

    • The Board authorized the Superintendent to appoint 24 Euclid Schools staff to the TEACHH Training on June 3rd-7th.

    • The Board approved a motion to authorize sealcoating, striping and patching at the Fordyce Administration Building, Bluestone Elementary and the District Bus Garage.

    • The Board approved painting maintenance of school buildings over the summer to be completed before the start of the 2024-2025 school year.


  • Policies

    • The Board conducted a first reading of policies regarding Student Assessment and Intervention Services and the Third Grade Reading Guarantee.


Superintendent’s Informal

  • Superintendent Papouras acknowledged the recent Euclid High School Graduates and wished them well in the future.

  • Superintendent Papouras encouraged Euclid Students and families to read over the summer and wished everyone a safe, healthy and fun summer.
