The Kindergarten students have enjoyed the STEM challenges this month.   Students built Chicka Chicka Boom Boom trees that would balance the letters of the alphabet. Students also built structures that they could balance an egg on based on the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty. Love seeing all the fun and learning in Mrs. Solema's room. :)

Save Fred: We've been learning about scientific tools, inquiries, and investigations in class. The kids focused on forming hypotheses, then creating a plan or conducting experiments to prove our hypotheses valid or invalid. Today, the kids in Mrs. Redford's class worked in teams to create a plan and attempt to save Fred, a water-loving worm who capsized his boat and needs help getting back into his boat, reunited with his life-preserver. Teams focused on teamwork and building bonds along with effective communication skills to tackle this task together. It was awesome to see the collaboration out of our scholars working together. The conversations were RICH and in DEPTH. We LOVE these STEM activities. This is a PRIME EXAMPLE of why Chardon Hills STEM is different. :) Go PANTHERS!

We had the Kindergarten Nursery Rhyme Olympics today. It was our culminating activity that went along with our CKLA knowledge unit 1. It consisted of a Jack be Nimble hopscotch, hickory dickory dock run, the Jack and Jill water pail of water activity, putting together Humpty Dumpty puzzle and the tortoise and hare race. The teachers did such a nice job planning and implementing this activity. The kids loved it and it was awesome to see so many smiles!

Miss Cantor visited the kindergarten classes to have “reading campouts”! September is National Wilderness Month, and students got to explore a selection of picture books with nature themes while using flashlights. Who doesn't love a little camping and reading! 📖 ⛺️ 🔦

Look at this little panther dressed up for Career Day. Everyone Wednesday is College and Career Day. Our staff wear their College gear and we love seeing the kids dress up as someone they want to be when they grow up. We can't wait to see him saving lives!

During our faculty meeting this afternoon, we reviewed all our safety procedures with our safety director. See Something, Say Something! SAFETY FIRST!

Congratulations to Mrs. Micale’s class. They had perfect Attendance for the month of August. They celebrated by picking an item from the Attendance Party Cart. Great job Panthers! 🐅

In Mrs. Detlev's class our 5th grade mathematicians were using base ten blocks to model sums and differences for decimals to the hundredths place value. Love the high expectations and rigor out of this class. These kids are going to be PREPARED for Middle School by the end of the year. 🐅💪🏼💙💛

Our new staff shirts are IN. They have our THEME on them. They turned out so nice! We are PLANTING SEEDS for SUCCESS this year! Our students of the month will have similar ones as well. :) Go PANTHERS!

Our PERFECT ATTENDANCE Winners for the first 25 days of school. We have 139 still PERFECT. We will select a winner from each grade. We will also be selecting MOST IMPROVED attendance winners soon as well. Happy Friday!

Thank you to Ms. Ruple for setting up the Hawken Community Day. The students in Mrs. Hickman’s class enjoyed playing math games with high schoolers and getting to ask them questions about high school.

We had 27 staff who were here the 1st 20 days of school. We randomly selected 3 for Browns STAY in the GAME shirts. Way to LEAD by example! We will be awarding kids tomorrow as with perfect attendance shirts too.

We are all set up for the FATHER's WALK tomorrow. It starts at 7:15am. It's going to be a great AM. Thank you to all the volunteers for setting up. We can't wait to see all the turnout. 🐅🐅🐅🐅
