On April 25, 2025, Euclid High School students joined the City of Euclid, the Euclid Shade Tree Commission, and the Soil and Water Conservation District to commemorate Arbor Day with a community tree planting at Memorial Park. Together, the group planted eight new oak trees, contributing to the expansion of the park’s historic oak grove and advancing the City’s long-term plan to strengthen Euclid’s tree canopy.

The event included participation from the Euclid High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter and the SAVE Environmental Club. Student volunteers — Lauren Carothers, Alphonzo Freeman, Kamren Huddleston, Ben Obechina, William Jones, Lydia Funk, and Javion Brinkley — worked alongside community partners to bring the project to life through hands-on service.

The FFA Chapter was proudly represented by its president, Marasia Johnson, who delivered remarks highlighting the importance of trees for community improvement and climate stabilization. Her words reflected the FFA’s enduring commitment to environmental stewardship. Euclid High School takes great pride in participating in efforts such as Arbor Day, which build a healthier, more vibrant, and more beautiful community.

This opportunity was made possible through the collaboration of Ramona Spivey, Josh Stephens, and Roy Larick of the Euclid Shade Tree Commission, whose leadership ensured a meaningful experience for all involved.

Planting trees serves not only as a celebration of Arbor Day but also as an investment in the future — one that promotes environmental sustainability, public health, and community pride. Euclid High School extends its sincere gratitude to all partners who made this event possible and applauds the students for their contributions to growing a greener, stronger Euclid.
