FFA Students at the Coit Road Farmers Market

On Monday, April 14, students from Euclid High School’s FFA chapter, led by Mr. Stephens and operating through the Lakeshore Compact, spent the day engaged in a powerful service learning experience at the Coit Road Farmers’ Market in East Cleveland.

The visit was part of a continued partnership aimed at teaching students about agribusiness, community engagement, and Cleveland history, while also supporting one of the region’s most vital resources for food access. The group also took time to explore the historic East Side Market, gaining valuable insight into the economic and cultural history of food systems in the city.

This hands-on learning experience gave students the chance to see how urban agriculture and farmers’ markets play a key role in providing fresh produce in areas where access is limited. With Cleveland ranked as the poorest city in Ohio, opportunities like these help students better understand the impact they can have by supporting sustainable and community-centered solutions.

Thanks to a partnership with the Coit Road Farmers’ Market, the FFA students had the chance to contribute to real-world efforts addressing food insecurity while applying their classroom knowledge in meaningful ways.

These experiences continue to show the power of Career Technical Education (CTE) to connect students to purpose-driven learning, civic responsibility, and career exploration.
